Santa Barbara Harbor Nautical Swap Meet
Last year on May 17th, the Santa Barbara Nautical Swap Meet drew hundreds of treasure-seekers to the Main Harbor Parking lot from 8 a.m. to noon. The swap meet committee advertised in local media, with nearly 60 swap meet vendors sprawling out their tackle & gear, surfboards, fishing poles, inflatable boats, boat motors and other marine/nautical stuff. The display of sea fare collectibles seemed like a Las Vegas smorgasbord. During the four-hour event, the Santa Barbara Harbor Merchants Associations provided free food and refreshments to the public. People mingled and swapped stories. This was Waterfront’s third swap meet since 2005. It was a great success for locals, participating vendors and Waterfront tenants. For another adventurous morning of fun, mark you calendars for May 15, 2010.

Nautical tackle is everywhere.

SUPs, rafts, dinghies, surfboards and things.

Timing is everything – early bird gets the worm.

Just add water for a full-sized ship. Let me see those instructions.

Now, where’s that other swim fin?

It looks like good rope, and smells like good rope…

The Swap Meet has everything. You may even pick up a friend or two.

I knew that fish is a good source of protein, but this one has a very good supply of iron too.
